29 Sep 2006 - Schoolchildren for Children

Exercise Initiative: Children from Year 2 to Year 6 took part in an 'Exercise Initiative' called 'Schoolchildren for Children' on Friday 29th September. Every pupil in the UK was encouraged to exercise for one hour and make a small donation of £1.

Half the money raised will be used by our school to buy equipment for extra-curricular activities. The other half will be donated to Schoolchildren for Children to assist children around the world to benefit from an education that may otherwise have been denited to them.
A note from Mrs. Buck

I would like to thank all the children, parents and staff who took part or supported this event. This action-packed initiative began with 100 children taking part in a series of different activities, including 'Times Tables' dancing, parachuting and target practice, to name but a few. Unfortunately, half an hour into the event the heavens opened and 'rain stopped play' until later in the day. Undeterred by the rain delay, our children re-entered the event with great enthusiasm and renewed energy, completing the target of one hour's exercise.

The grand total of £130 was raised, fifty percent of which goes to 'Schoolchildren for Children" to be used for equipment and education overseas. The remaining fifty percent will be put towards PE equipment for our own children's benefit. Thank you all, once again, for your generosity.
